A Name for Slugs

What do you think you should have for a name
For a group of slugs where they’re all the same?
There’s a pack of wolves and cows in a herd,
Lions run in prides and flocks if you’re a bird.
Fish are in schools and pods are for whales,
It’s an army full of ants or a covey full of quails.
So, hounds run in packs and baboons in a troop,
You’d keep a brood of chickens in a backyard coop.
There’s a cloud of grasshoppers and a swarm of bugs,
But what do you label a grouping of slugs?
It’s called a clowder for a crowd of cats,
And it’s a colony for a flock of flying bats.
A brace is the name for ducks that go quack,
And herd is the title for deer, elk and yaks.
How about an ‘Ooze’ of slugs – referring to their slime?
Or a ‘Slouch’ of slugs ‘cause they race in record time?
Thus, the slugs came together and put it to a vote,
They had debates and motions, and in the minutes one slug wrote:
“Henceforth, from this day forward, we do proudly proclaim
That we have all decided upon our chosen name,
With reference to our slime and the speed at which we trudge,
A handsome group of slugs shall be known as a SLUDGE!”
